Arvid&Marie – The Universal Declaration of Machines Rights
The Non-human/More-than-human Legal Bureau of Public Requests, Complaints and Defense 2nd Door to the Left invites citizens to come forward and participate in the crafting of a new rights declaration. The Non-human/More-than-human Legal Bureau of Public Requests Complaints and Defense 2nd Door to the Left is a committee set up to work out the practicalities of the relationship between humans and non-human. During the workshop with artist duo Arvid&Marie, citizens learn about the debate of machine rights, its importance and its critics. With a hands on legal and performative approach, participants will draft complaints and defences towards a design for the Universal Declaration of Rights for Machines.
Arvid&Marie is a duo of artists, experience designers and technological adventurers always aiming to discover new ways to stretch our world. Together Arvid Jense (NL, MSc at TU/e) and Marie Caye (FR, BA Design Academy Eindhoven) collaborate on their shared passion for art and technology. Through the use of interactive objects and performative story telling, Arvid&Marie use their collaborative effort to explore post-human theories, focusing their creative attention on practical cybernetics and autonomous machines. They believe that researching how humans express themselves, philosophically and technologically, can lead to long lasting, positive change.
